Most of us agree that social media is an essential part of our daily lives. We use social media to connect with friends and to share our lives with our extended social media family.

In 2017 there were approximately 89.7 million dogs living in households in the United States, approximately 21 million more than in 2000.  As dog ownership continues to grow and dogs are being embraced as family members, the proliferation of social media apps for dog owners indicates that technology has finally caught up with that reality.

Social media apps allow dog owners to share everything about their dog with a community of dog lovers. Most apps let you share pictures and video streams, chat with other dog owners and schedule meet-ups and play dates at the local dog park. Some even have live-map tracking so you can track your dog’s walks in real-time. Many apps provide tips and advice and offer lists of pet-related services like dog walkers, veterinarians, dog trainers and pet shops.

In our connected world knowing how to connect with people who have similar interests can make life much more fun. Here’s a list of some social media apps for dog owners that are worth checking out.
